Houston's First Deaf Church

Everyone Belongs

Houston's First Deaf Church is a place where Deaf/HOH individuals and families can come and be free from the day to day life of living in a hearing society where they are marginalized more often than not. A place where their language and culture is cherished and valued and is the prime focus of worship and services. Worship services are sometimes voice interpreted for family members who do not know ASL, when interpreters are available. Our membership is made up of Deaf, HOH, codas, hearing and of various backgrounds. All members are encouraged to learn ASL and to learn about the rich culture of the Deaf. It should be understood that Deaf Christians do not have the same freedom to attend ANY church they want to, unlike hearing Christians. That being the case, services and activities are geared towards the Deaf and HOH communities. All are welcome to come and worship the God who created all things, and all people for His own good pleasure. To come and experience the love of Christ, the Lord and Savior, God the Son.

Discussion Group - 10am - 10:45am

During this time we explore further the message from the previous Sunday (usually) as a way to further dive into God's Word and serves to prepare us for the sermon later that morning.  Discussions are open, honest, and our pastor has often said he chases rabbits very easily, so they can turn to different topics as the discussion increases!

Worship Service - 11am - 12pm

We gather to worship our Lord and Savior at 11am in the sanctuary.  All are welcome.  We have voice interpreters sometimes but it is not always guaranteed.  We do have a children's service, and children under the age of 8 are dismissed to the children's wing for the duration of the service.  However, we encourage family worship so if you would prefer your young ones to be with you we would love that!

Bible Study 2pm

After our service, we have a time of food and fellowship every Sunday - we provide a simple lunch, such as pizza, but you are welcome to go grab lunch and come back and fellowship.  At 2pm we move into Bible study.  We would love to have you!

Weekly Bible Studies

Tuesdays we have a zoom Bible study lead by one of our members at 1pm.  Click "contact us" below to inquire about the zoom link.

We also have a women's Bible study that meets on Wednesdays at 1pm - 3pm with child care.  This is in the fellowship hall at the church and is also led by a member of our church.  The group meets on Wednesdays, but on the third (3rd) Tuesday of the month they gather for a time of prayer and fellowship at 6:30pm.

Houston's First Deaf Church stands as a beacon of faith in Houston. We are a place of prayer, peace and joy to all who join us. Our community is richly diverse, with people of different ages and backgrounds coming together to worship and serve together. We welcome all individuals seeking God’s love and our doors are open to every soul seeking to welcome Jesus into their heart.
